Encampment Info-
Encampment is a yearly tradition for the FM Girl Scouts. It is a great introduction for the girls to overnights, whether in a lodge, an A frame or a platform tent. All of the scheduled activities occur Saturday throughout the day, with opportunities for other troop planned activities.
For those troops not staying over Friday night, check in starts at 8:30 Saturday morning. Boondoggle will be set up for early arrivals.
The attached list of supplies is a general camping list (for instance, no bathing suits will need to be packed for an Oct date; conversely, hopefully we won't need gloves in June! ). It can be very dewy by the flagpole in the morning, depending on the weather (beware of wet feet- rubber boots are great for the morning so your scout won't be chilly and miserable the rest of the day).
Planned activities are scheduled until mid-afternoon, to give those troops that are preparing dinner over a fire plenty of time to get their coals warm enough for cooking. If your troop is brown bagging dinner, don't forget to plan some extra activities between then and the group campfire. There are hiking trails to explore, large fields for games, as well as discovering all the new possibilities that are in the new Girls Guide to Girl Scouting books.
Leaders, please remember to submit your troop activity form as well as your Encampment form and payment.
